The honest version
This is the only program in this cluster where the referred buyer clearly gets the better end — Eight Sleep’s own refer-a-friend module says “Give $200. Get $100.” The referrer’s $100 comes with real conditions that the aggregator pages never mention: per Eight Sleep’s referral terms the referred order must be greater than $1,500 in total value net of tax, shipping, discounts, returns and chargebacks; rewards are paid in $100 increments as Amazon gift cards, typically after 60 days (Eight Sleep can hold a reward up to 120 days for fraud review); and the cap is 100 qualified referrals per calendar year, one per referred customer — repeat purchases by the same person do not count again.
The more useful honesty is about what a Pod costs. The hardware is one part: Pod 5 Cover pricing on eightsleep.com runs $2,599 to $2,999 depending on size. The part people miss is that Autopilot is required for the first 12 months (cancellable after that, and one plan covers two sleepers) — without it you lose the automatic temperature adjustment, sleep and health reports and smart alarms that are the reason to buy the thing. Price the membership into year one before deciding whether $200 off moves the needle.
How Eight Sleep Refer-A-Friend (Friendbuy) works
Friendbuy attaches the referral code (ours is william23) when you land on eightsleep.com. Building a cart first and pasting a code later generally will not backfill it.
Confirm the referral discount is showing before you pay, and check whether it stacks with whatever sitewide sale is running — Eight Sleep runs them often.
A membership is required for the first 12 months, billed annually and covering up to two sleepers. It is not optional at checkout.
The reward is an Amazon gift card issued after the return window has effectively passed, and only if the order cleared $1,500 net.

The cheapest way into an Eight Sleep Pod
- Always arrive through a referral link. $200 off is the largest referral benefit in this cluster and it costs you nothing — it is strictly better than landing on eightsleep.com cold.
- Check whether the sale and the referral stack. With “up to $300 off” events running much of the year, the cart is the only place that tells you whether you are getting $200, $300, or both.
- Price year one, not the hardware. Cover plus a required 12-month Autopilot membership is the real number. A Pod that is $200 cheaper but carries a membership tier you did not budget for is not a better deal.
- Consider the rental if you are unsure. Eight Sleep rents the Pod 5 Core and Ultra with Autopilot for a flat monthly fee — worse per month, but it avoids a $2,600+ commitment to a product you may not tolerate sleeping on.
Note for the referrer side: because the qualifying threshold is $1,500 net of returns and discounts, a heavily discounted accessory-only order can leave the referrer with nothing even though a real purchase happened.
